Fire resistant tubes EI 30-60-120
The EI 120 range has been tested as a ventilation duct according to the EN 1366-1 standard and has the fire resistance classifications for both vertical and horizontal installation according to the EN 13501-3: 2005 standard: EI 120 (ve↔io) EI 120 (or↔i o).
In addition to the classification as a ventilation duct, the EI 120 range has obtained the classification as a fire control flue according to the EN 1366-8 standard, for both vertical and horizontal installations. In this case the designation is EI120 S500 multi.
The tests for the classification of fire control flue are more demanding than those for ventilation applications, and the duct must comply in addition to the requirements for ventilation also with the following characteristics:
- Seal (S)
- Higher pressure test (500 Pa)
- Crossing of compartmentation elements, therefore it is not possible in any case to use a ventilation duct for a smoke expulsion application
The EI 120 range includes a sealing element in stainless steel, during assembly, a neutral silicone sealant resistant to high temperatures is applied to the external wall of the female end, which guarantees a perfect seal of the fittings and allows to reach a temperature gas maximum: 600º C with maximum permissible over pressure of 5000 Pa.
The EI (t) classification is defined, according to the EN 13501-3 standard, as the period t in minutes during which the integrity and isolation criteria are met. “E” indicates the ability to avoid the transmission of fire following a large amount of flames or hot gases that pass between the part exposed to the fire and the part not exposed to the fire.
“I” is the ability of the fireplace to withstand exposure to fire when heat transmission is not significant. The classification of a ventilation duct must also indicate whether they have been tested using fire in the inner wall (i↔o), in the outer wall (o↔i) or both (i↔o). The orientation of the flue during the test must also be indicated: vertical (ve) or horizontal (or).
According to these classifications, the EI 120 range can pass through the EI 120 fire compartmentation elements, vertically and horizontally. The sealing of these elements in the points where they are crossed by the EI 120 is performed using a specific element, designed and developed specifically for this application.
